Achieving a balance between supply and demand in providing health services in Jeddah and meeting future quantitative and qualitative demand

  • In recent years, the Saudi government has paid great attention to developing the private medical sector, and this interest is evident through its provision of many incentives, such as the Ministry of Health loan, which was recently raised to 200 million riyals and is repayable over 20 years without interest.
  • The health sector is one of the most promising areas of opportunity for the private sector, thanks to the favorable demographics in terms of population growth and life expectancy. As well, as changes in disease patterns such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
  • Indicators show that the private sector contributes 31% of the total hospitals in the Kingdom and 23% of the total patient beds in the Kingdom.
  • The Ministry of Health aims to increase the number of extended care beds, through the National Transformation Program 2.2, from seven beds per 100,000 inhabitants to the global level of 10 beds per 100,000 inhabitants with 3,125 beds.
  • The Kingdom health transformation programs included the private sector participation program, which aims to double the participation of the private sector by facilitating the ownership or management of health service facilities. The areas targeted by the program include rehabilitation, medical cities, hospitals, primary care centers, extended care facilities, home care services, radiology and laboratories
