Mazen Batterjee, Vice Chairman Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI); Hassan Dahlan, secretary general JCCI; and Shehryar Akbar Khan, Consul General Pakistan, inaugurated Pakistan Food Festival by cutting the ribbon in a simple yet traditional ceremony at Movenpick Hotel Jeddah on Wednesday.
Several Saudi businessmen, officials, and foreign diplomats were also present on the occasion.
I am delighted to be at this Food Festival, said Batterjee while addressing as a chief guest.
He thanked the Pakistan Consul General for inviting him. He said food festivals and other similar activities help project the soft image of Pakistan and that such activities promote the products and earn a place in the huge Saudi markets. “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy good relations and I am sure such festivals shall bring the Saudi people closer to the Pakistani people and also help develop taste of the Pakistani cuisines,” he added.
Matthias J. Mitman, Consul General of the United States of America, said it is a wonderful festival and great idea. The food was excellent, although it is spicy. but I loved spicy food. I really enjoyed the great atmosphere and lovely evening. He said he had been once in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. I really enjoyed the trip.
Patrick Nicoloso, Consul General, France said food is spicy “but I enjoy very much.”
Shoayb Casoo, Consul General of Republic of South Africa said the food is unique and very good quality.
Shehryar Akbar Khan, Consul General Pakistan, delivered the welcomed address. He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have brotherly relations in almost all fields since Pakistan’s independence 70 years ago.
Pakistanis who came here right from the beginning till today are contributing in the socio-economic development of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have brought with them Pakistani traditions having similar foundations, he said.
Consul general said Pakistani cuisine is known its test, variety and its richness. The dishes from all four provinces have been own distinct and unique flavor. These flavors are all cooked in historic method and the food is spicy with rich aroma.
